Kobe Luminarie
Kobe Luminarie is a stunning light festival held every winter in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture. It was first started in 1995 as a tribute to the victims of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake and to symbolize the city’s hope for recovery. The beautiful light corridor, crafted by Italian artisans, is set up across locations like Higashi-Yuenchi Park, the former foreign settlement, and Meriken Park. The enchanting illuminations captivate all who visit. The theme changes each year, with vibrant arches and dome-shaped light installations lighting up the night sky. Over time, it has become one of the most iconic winter traditions in Kobe, attracting many tourists to this spectacular event in the Kansai region.

Himeji Castle
Himeji Castle, located in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture, is one of Japan’s most iconic castles and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993. Known for its stunning white appearance, it’s also called the “White Heron Castle” and boasts the largest existing keep in Japan. The castle is also famous for its cherry blossoms, and in spring, around 1,000 cherry trees bloom, creating a beautiful contrast between the castle and the flowers.

Port of Kobe
Kobe Port is the heart of Kobe, one of Japan’s most iconic port cities. Arima Onsen
Arima Onsen, located in the Kita Ward of Kobe City in Hyogo Prefecture, is a historic hot spring resort known as one of Japan’s three famous hot springs. It’s said that even Toyotomi Hideyoshi loved it! Visitors can enjoy two types of spring waters: the reddish-brown “Kin-sen” (gold spring) which contains iron and salt, and the colorless, transparent “Gin-sen” (silver spring). While exploring the charming streets of the hot spring town, don’t forget to try the local specialty, “carbonated senbei” (crackers), and soak in the unique atmosphere!

Awaji Island
Awaji Island is located in the southern part of Hyogo Prefecture and connects Honshu, Awaji Island, and Shikoku through the Akashi Kaikyō Bridge and the Ōnaruto Bridge. It offers a variety of attractions, such as the “Awaji Hanasajiki” where you can enjoy seasonal flowers, and the “Uzushio Cruise” where you can witness the famous whirlpools of Naruto. The island is also known for its delicious local specialties like Awaji beef and the famous Awaji onions. According to Japanese mythology, it is believed to be the first island created by the gods.

Kinosaki Onsen
Kinosaki Onsen is a hot spring town with over 1,300 years of history, where you can enjoy a tour of seven different public baths. You can stroll through the charming hot spring town in a yukata, and savor fresh seafood from the Sea of Japan and delicious local sweets.

Mount Rokko
“Mount Rokko” offers a stunning panoramic view of Kobe city and Osaka Bay. The night view, in particular, is often referred to as the “million-dollar night view” because of its breathtaking sparkle. You can easily reach the mountaintop using the Rokko Cable Car or the Ropeway.

Takarazuka City
Takarazuka City is home to cultural landmarks like the Takarazuka Grand Theater, the headquarters of the famous Takarazuka Revue, and the Osamu Tezuka Memorial Museum, which showcases the works of the legendary “God of Manga,” Osamu Tezuka. The city also offers relaxing hot spring facilities, making it a popular destination for its diverse attractions.

Ako City
Akō City is a historic town famous for being the setting of the famous tale of the 47 Ronin (Chūshingura). It’s known for the ruins of Akō Castle and its production of high-quality salt. Visitors can also enjoy hot springs and the beautiful views of the Seto Inland Sea. The Iwatsuhime Shrine is especially popular for its stunning view of the Seto Inland Sea framed by the torii gate.

Nankinmachi (Kobe Chinatown)
“Nankin-machi” is one of Japan’s famous Chinatowns, along with Yokohama and Nagasaki. When the Port of Kobe opened in the first year of the Meiji era, many Chinese people moved to the area. Today, you’ll find over 100 restaurants and shops lined up, creating a vibrant street full of exotic charm.

Tajima Beef
The “Tajima Beef” from Hyogo Prefecture is a type of black-haired Wagyu raised in the Tajima region in the northern part of the prefecture. It is known as the ancestor of many famous Japanese beef brands, such as Kobe Beef and Matsusaka Beef. With its marbled, tender texture and rich umami flavor, it has earned nationwide recognition and is highly regarded across Japan.
